Job Description
The Database Administrator manages an MS-SQL-based data warehouse
critical for team operations and organizational insights. This role
involves consolidating data from various sources, ensuring high
performance, and facilitating data-driven decision-making. The
ideal candidate possesses SQL server administration skills, data
engineering expertise, and proficiency in tools like Excel or
Tableau for business analysis. The role contributes to the
company's mission by supporting scalable operations and informed
decision-making.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Takes ownership in managing all aspects of the DW and its core
functions.
- Monitor SQL Server Agent to ensure daily/monthly SSIS packages
execute successfully; troubleshoot and resolve intermittent job
failures, occasionally outside of normal business hours (including
weekends).
- Test and deploy enhancements to SSIS packages and data transfer
protocols, including QA to avoid downstream data dependency
errors.
- Integrate 3rd party data sources using API's / SFTP, and
support changes to existing integrations.
- Maintain account management policies; recommend and implement
approved security policies.
- Assess historical performance, and recommend strategies for
optimizing the data processing model, data storage, and indexing
structure.
- Detect issues concerning data integrity and assume
responsibility for resolving those issues.
- Document SQL server changes and SSIS package enhancements in
Azure DevOps; document key datasets and database
structure.
- Become a subject matter expert of our existing datasets and
infrastructure; provide technical guidance to BI developers and SQL
Server end-users by assisting with query tuning and educating on
best practices.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams across the organization
to establish robust data processes/pipelines.
- Actively participate in the expansion of the mortgage analytics
team to support other business units and initiatives that help
elevate the team.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Three to five years of progressive experience managing a MS-SQL
Server-based environment, as well as directly developing
data.
- Experience in a large public or private company or large public
accounting firm.
- Experience with proven ability to interact with all levels of
the organization.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in business,
finance, engineering, IT, or a related field or a combination of
education, training, and experience.
Skills/Knowledge:
- Experience with SSMS, SSIS, SSAS, PowerShell/Batch scripting,
CData, and other API integrations.
- Deep understanding of data architecture, process optimization
and indexes; analyzing execution plans for query tuning and index
optimization.
- Familiarity with monitoring features (Extended Events, SQL
Trace, SQL profiler, etc) to monitor health and performance of the
DW.
- Keen ability to document observations made through research,
data discovery, and/or root-cause analysis, and communicate
findings/recommend solutions to leadership.
- Ability to quickly learn, adapt, and integrate new
technologies.
- Self-starter with superior analytical, critical thinking,
communication, organization, and decision-making
capabilities.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills,
ability to deal with ambiguity, and work successfully and
effectively on cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and possess a work
ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations.
- The ability to read, write, understand, optimize, and simplify
SQL required.
