Job Description Job Description The Facility Maintenance
Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of repairs
and upkeep on commercial facilities across the Central Florida
Expressway (CFX) system. As a key member of the maintenance team,
this role supports the safe and reliable operation of toll plazas,
administrative buildings, and related infrastructure by completing
routine, reactive, and emergency maintenance tasks. Duties include
troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining building systems,
equipment, and facility components, while ensuring safe work
practices at all times. This position offers the opportunity to
contribute directly to keeping critical transportation facilities
operational and presentable, while also gaining hands-on experience
across multiple trades. The Technician will work collaboratively
with team members, leadership, and vendors to deliver best-in-class
services that help clients meet their most complex operational
challenges. This position reports to the Ocoee, FL office. A
dedicated company vehicle to use for work purposes is included. *
This position is temporary and is expected to last 60-90 days, at
which time the opportunity with be reassessed for consideration of
permanent placement. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform
preventive and routine maintenance on various building systems,
including electrical, plumbing, lighting, roofing, HVAC, and
interior/exterior finishes. Repair or replace electrical devices
such as switches, ballasts, light fixtures, outlets, breakers, and
fuses. Repair or replace facility elements, including building
doors, hardware, windows, ceiling and floor tiles, drywall, and
similar components. Perform basic plumbing repairs, including
clearing clogged lines, repairing leaks, and installing or fixing
plumbing fixtures. Inspect and maintain HVAC components, including
fans, exhaust systems, and ductwork. Inspect roofs, flashings,
masonry, building interiors and exteriors, stairways, walkways,
offices, and common areas to identify and address maintenance
needs. Repair and monitor safety equipment, including exit signs,
emergency lighting, and emergency doors. Carry out or oversee
contractor performance of preventive maintenance and repair tasks
to ensure work is completed to high-quality and safety standards.
Practice and promote safe work habits at all times, ensuring
compliance with OSHA safety standards and company procedures.
Travel to assigned facilities along the CFX Highway System; company
vehicle provided. Maintain accurate work logs and documentation of
maintenance activities, both manually and electronically. Load,
unload, and transport equipment, tools, supplies, and materials as
needed. Use all equipment and tools safely and correctly at all
times. Support emergency call-outs, storm response, and other
unplanned situations by working nights, weekends, or overtime as
required. Perform other duties as directed by the Maintenance
Supervisor or Project Manager to support facility operations.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge Basic
principles of building systems, including electrical, plumbing,
HVAC, roofing, and general construction/finishing. Standard
methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in commercial
facilities maintenance and repair. OSHA safety standards, safe work
practices, and PPE requirements applicable to facility maintenance.
Preventive maintenance practices and scheduling. Skills Competence
in using hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment
safely and effectively. Ability to troubleshoot and repair minor
electrical, plumbing, and building system issues. Strong
problem-solving skills to diagnose facility issues and identify
effective repair solutions. Basic computer skills for logging work
orders, maintenance checklists, and electronic documentation.
Consistently follows safety procedures, recognizes hazards,
communicates them, and stops work when needed. Works reliably with
a strong work ethic, asks clarifying questions, and follows through
to completion. Communicates clearly with supervisors, teammates,
inspectors, and the public. Abilities Ability to work independently
or as part of a maintenance team, managing daily tasks efficiently.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete multiple maintenance
tasks under deadlines. Physical ability to lift 50–60 lbs., climb
ladders, kneel, stoop, crouch, and work in confined spaces or at
heights. Capability to travel across CFX facilities with a reliable
company-provided vehicle. Adapts to multiple shifts, including
nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and responds to emergency
callbacks and storm events within required timeframes. Commitment
to ethical behavior, integrity, and compliance with company
policies, including the Drug and Alcohol Policy and all
preemployment screening requirements. Travels within the assigned
district and, when needed, stays overnight during storms or
emergency operations. Living within a reasonable response time to
the yard or project area is required. EDUCATION AND WORK
EXPERIENCE: Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED.
Must be at least 23 years old (per company insurance requirements).
Minimum of 3 years of experience in general facilities maintenance,
building repair, or related trade (electrical, plumbing, carpentry,
HVAC, etc.). Must possess an active and valid Florida driver’s
license with no restrictions and be able to pass a Motor Vehicle
Record (MVR) check and maintain insurability under company policy.
Basic math, reading, and recordkeeping skills to complete work
orders and material logs accurately. Ability to obtain Maintenance
of Traffic (MOT) or Flagger certification within company timelines.
Willing and able to travel within the assigned district and report
to different work sites; living within a reasonable response time
to the yard is preferred. Compliance with the company's Drug and
Alcohol Policy; able to pass pre-employment and random testing. A
background check and job-related physical may be required.
Preferred qualifications Technical or trade school certification in
facilities maintenance, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or a
related field. 3–5 years of progressive experience in facilities
maintenance within a commercial, transportation, or public works
environment. Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance
Management Systems) or other electronic work order systems. OSHA
10/30 training or equivalent safety certification. Specialized
certifications in electrical, plumbing, or HVAC repair/maintenance
(e.g., EPA 608 for HVAC). Prior experience working on DOT, tolling,
or similar highway facility projects.
